Blurb: Gina Troisi’s father moved out when she was five years old, but before he left, he insisted on telling her about his various affairs—with prostitutes, with her mother’s friends, and finally, with his secretary, Brenda, whom he had decided to marry. By the time she reached adolescence, on a search for respite from her father's verbal abuse and Brenda's psychological torment, Gina spent hours doing Jane Fonda’s workouts, smoked cigarettes instead of eating food, became obsessed with her thinness, and with the notion of fading away. She began to find solace in restlessness—drinking hallucinogenic mushroom tea and inhaling crushed pills and powders—perching herself on the periphery of danger again and again. As an adult, when she finally glimpsed a better life for herself, her grandfather, who had been a surrogate father to her, became terminally ill, and she fell in love with John, a stranger who was utterly familiar, but who was addicted to heroin. She moved from New Hampshire to California, crossing the country in an attempt to alleviate her selfdestructive tendencies, but found herself pulled back to New Hampshire, to John, a man with whom, despite his struggle, she could not deny the sense of home she felt. But what would it cost for a girl to run wildly and recklessly into womanhood, making instant, temporary homes? And would she ever find home within herself?Links: - Goodreads - Amazon - B&N - Kobo - Apple - Booktopia - Gumroad - Bookshop About the Author: Gina Troisi’s work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, including Fourth Genre, The Gettysburg Review, Fugue, Under the Sun, Flyway: Journal of Writing and Environment, and elsewhere. Talons of Love
By Debbie McQueen
Dragon King Series, Book 3
Two hearts bound together, suddenly torn apart.
When Egan disappears, Prince Raiden will stop at nothing to find him. With his closest friends and an unexpected acquaintance, he leaves the Sixth Realm behind to track down the man he loves. What he sees along the way will stay with him forever.
Egan finds himself face to face with the man who has haunted his dreams since he was a child, only now he brings new nightmares. Egan's not the only one suffering at the monster's hand; there are others- others like him. He vows to do whatever he can to stop the monster and protect those around him.
Egan holds on to the hope that the love and connection he has with Raiden will reunite them once again.
I don’t know how long I sat with my arms wrapped around my knees, and my father’s arms around me as I rocked and sobbed. My father, King Rodick, held me, Prince Raiden, heir to the throne, victor in battle, as tears flowed endlessly. I couldn’t form the words to explain what happened, or even why I knew something had happened. Still, my father held me and stayed with me. He whispered reassurances that we would find Egan.
I had a vague recollection of yelling Egan’s name, which had brought both him and my brother, Kairn, into my room. I kept rubbing the tender scar over my heart that had been made as part of the ritual that bound myself to Egan. I screamed his name inside of my mind as well as out loud. Worry and fear filled Kairn’s face as he watched me break apart.
Everything was fine one minute, then the next, he was gone. I thought about the pain that I had felt in my back and shoulders; it was his pain. What happened to him? Where did he go?
The connection was still there, it was faint, but it was there. Egan was still alive, he had to be. The relief that he was alive was short-lived as I wondered what had caused his pain and what kind of state he was in. Egan, the man I loved, he was my everything and I couldn’t handle the thought of something happening to him.
“Raiden, my boy, tell me what’s happened.” He had been asking me for a while, but now that I was spent from the sobs and the terror, his pained words finally reached through the fog. I sniffed and breathed in deeply, trying to collect myself.
“I...I don’t know exactly.” My voice was hoarse and the words croaked out of me. I kept rubbing the scar above my heart. I could feel my father watching the movement, I hadn’t told him about the bonding, there was no way he could understand why I felt the loss of Egan’s presence bone-deep.
“How do you know something happened?” His words were soft and calm, I knew he was trying to keep me level, to keep me from falling over the edge again.“We...we’re connected, Egan and I.” I tugged the collar of my shirt down to show the still red, puckered scar from where Egan had sliced my skin open with a talon.

By K.C. Wells
Maine Men Series, Book 1
It’s been twenty years since Joel was with a man, and he doesn’t want to screw this up.
Especially with Finn.
A secret desire
By day, Finn builds houses on the coastline of Maine. Afterhours, Finn dreams of the hot older guy who walks his chocolate lab on Goose Rocks Beach. The man of his dreams ticks all his boxes. Salt and pepper hair. Strong jawline. Blue eyes.
His dream man is perfect fantasy material. As for actually speaking to him?
As if. Their paths won’t ever cross, and the guy is probably straight.
A new chapter
Recently divorced Joel is finally living as a gay man, but he’s not sure he’s ready to jump into a relationship. That doesn’t stop him from noticing his new contractor’s muscular build, hewn from hard, physical work, or his storm-colored eyes. Or the way he wears his tool belt slung low on his hips. The icing on the cake? There’s more to Finn than good looks. Maybe he’s the perfect guy to share long walks on the beach and warm nights in front of a fire.
But it’s been twenty years since Joel was with a man. While he’s not forgotten how to flirt, he’s nervous about making a move.
Especially with Finn.
He drove down Dyke Road and turned left onto Kings Highway, heading for the spot where he’d parked the truck earlier. It was still empty. As he switched off the engine, he caught sight of a familiar figure crossing the road in front of him, and a familiar dog pulling him along.
Finn’s fantasy guy, closer than he’d ever been.
Say something. Be friendly. It didn’t matter that the logical part of his brain was screaming but he’s straight. Then all such thoughts fled his mind as the dog lurched forward sharply, pulling the leash from Fantasy Guy’s hand. The dog charged up the beach, heading for the two retrievers playing with their owner at the far end.
“Bramble!” The lab’s owner went running after it. “Bramble, get back here.”
Finn dove out of the truck and hurried after him. “Don’t run after him. Stop. Stop.”
Fantasy Guy turned to stare at him with obvious incredulity. “But he’s running away.”
Finn nodded. “And if you chase him, he’ll think it’s a game. Lie down on the sand.”
The guy widened his eyes. “Excuse me?”
“Lie on the sand, face down. Trust me. He’ll think you’re hurt, and he’ll come back to investigate.”
Fantasy Guy stared at the far end of the beach where his dog showed no signs of returning, and was barking at the two retrievers. “Fine,” he muttered. He lowered himself to his knees, then lay on the sand, his head resting on his arms.
Within seconds, the lab had noticed, and came racing back. He sniffed at him, nudging Fantasy Guy’s arm with his nose. Finn took advantage of the dog’s focus, and walked around to grab his collar. His owner knelt up and did the same, their hands meeting at the dog’s neck.
The owner grabbed the end of the leash. “Okay, I’ve got him.” Then he got to his feet and brushed the sand from his jeans and coat. He gave Finn a grateful glance. “Thank you. I wouldn’t have thought of that. You’re obviously used to dogs.”
“We always had dogs when I was growing up.” Finn nodded toward the dog. “He’s usually better behaved than this.” When the owner blinked, Finn gave a sheepish smile. “You walk him by my house. I live on Wildwood.”
Fantasy Guy gave him a speculative glance. “Weren’t you the one who waved to me the other day? From up there?” He pointed to the hotel.
Shit. Busted. “Oh. Yeah. That was me.”
From behind him came Max’s loud bellow. “Finn. Are you making the nails yourself?”
The dog’s owner smiled. “So you’re Finn. Thanks again, Finn. And this is Bramble.”
Finn couldn’t resist. “Does Bramble’s owner have a name?”
He laughed. “Oops. I’m Joel.” When another cry erupted, calling for Finn, Joel grinned. “Obviously a guy in demand. Well, next time you see me, wave. I’ll know who it is.” He held out his hand, and Finn shook it. Joel had a firm grip. “And now I’ll get back to walking Bramble, but this time, I’ll keep a tighter hold on the leash.” His eyes sparkled with humor.
Damn, he was sexy as fuck.

Warlord Wulf thought nothing could be worse than being tortured and contaminated by the Hive. That was before he’s ordered to transport to Earth and represent The Colony in an unfamiliar horror… a human reality show. The Bachelor Beast is the hottest new program on Earth, but being set up with two dozen clingy females is not his idea of a good time. When his Beast refuses to show the slightest interest in any of the show’s potential mates, he knows he must choose one or die due to his raging mating fever.
His Beast prefers execution to claiming anyone but his true mate. Wulf is resigned to his fate, a one-way trip to Atlan, a prison cell and execution. It is the only honorable thing left to do.
Until one glance, one sweet, feminine scent lingering in the air and his beast rages for a female who is not supposed to be his.
But try telling that to his Beast when his entire body transforms on live television and one simple word thunders from his lips…MINE.
Only 99¢ for a limited time!
I took a step closer, careful of the thick cords across the floor while remaining behind the cameras. Wulf’s hands gripped the arms of his chair as if they were keeping him from flying away. Maybe because I looked at people’s faces all the time, I could often tell what they were feeling, or maybe Wulf was equally bad at hiding his emotions.
I’d lusted after him. Drooled over him. Dreamed of him. I hadn’t really thought of the toll this show was taking on him. Had he truly volunteered for this? He looked about as enthused to be sitting here as someone in the waiting room before a colonoscopy. Was what Chet had said true? Would he die if he didn’t pick Genevieve or Willow? Was he really going to be executed?
Was his life so bad that he’d choose execution over the women? Not once in the three weeks of taping had Chet asked him what he was looking for in a mate. Everyone assumed, including me, that Wulf was whittling down the ladies to his favorites, to the one he’d give his cuffs.
Now I wasn’t so sure.
The show dragged on, as they had a one-hour time slot, with plenty of commercial breaks to heighten the anticipation. I was ready to scream by the time Chet stopped his inane questions and finally got down to the business at hand. The choice. Wulf’s choice.
“It’s finally time. Genevieve, Willow…” Chet spoke and the ladies took a step closer. The lights dimmed except for a focused beam on the gleaming cuffs in the glass case.
I moved around another camera to be as close as I could but remain behind the scenes. We were all in shadows, the large set being lit only by the stage.
“Warlord Wulf. It is time.”
Wulf slowly rose to his feet.
“Who is going to be your bride? Genevieve or Willow?”
Mary, a wardrobe tech, moved to stand beside me but bumped my shoulder, pushing me forward. I gasped and stopped my forward momentum out of sheer panic. I didn’t get in the way, but my heart was in my throat. Mary’s hand settled on my shoulder, and she mouthed a sorry along with a small smile.
I looked back at the stage, at what I’d been waiting for since the first episode. But Wulf wasn’t looking at the final contestants. He was looking at me.
Oh. My. God.
Had I gotten in front of the camera? Had I distracted Wulf at a time like this? Oh shit, I was going to be fired. I took a small step back, but Mary stopped me.
Genevieve turned to look my way. Willow narrowed her eyes in my direction as if trying to peer into the shadows. Chet even broke his perfect facade to glance past the cameras.
At me. Although I wasn’t sure if they could actually see me, or if they were trying to determine what held Wulf’s attention.
A rumbling came from the stage. Chet, Genevieve and Willow whipped their gazes back toward Wulf. Then came a growl that practically made the floor shake. I felt it deep inside me and I gasped.
Wulf’s eyes were still on me, and I couldn’t look away. Not when he was growing. Actually growing. The audience gasped, murmured. Backstage whispering kicked in. Chet stepped back. Genevieve took hold of Willow’s hand, and their eyes widened.
The tuxedo jacket ripped at the seams on Wulf’s body. He wasn’t seven feet of alien any longer. He had to be eight feet and all beast. Angled features, ragged breathing, taut muscles. A gaze laser sharp. Intense, as if he was ready to pounce.
“Mine.” The one word was low and deep, and it silenced the entire set.
